First part of the Stage 2 of the European Championships is concluded. 10 Teams in Mens’s and 8 in Women’s events booked their tickets for the Final Stage in Malmo. Now 5 men’s teams will play for remaining spot whilst women have two more tickets on offer with four teams in game.
In men’s teams event Poland progressed to Sweden after two wins over Finland and Lithuania. Finland beat Lithuania and moved forward as second team in the group. In Group 2 Hungary is at the top unbeaten followed by Türkiye. Switzerland failed to post the victory.
In Group 3 Italy overcame Serbia and Luxembourg to secure the top spot in the group. Serbia is second with one win over Luxembourg.
Ukraine recorded three wins. They proved too strong for Netherlands Israel and Latvia. Netherlands is second after they suffered just from the hands of group winners. Greece remained unbeaten. In the duel for the top position they overcame Norway today. In the match for the third place Spain beat Ireland.
Five third-positioned teams will play play-off for the remaining spot. On that list are: Lithuania Switzerland Luxembourg Israel and Spain.
In Women’s Event eight teams booked their tickets to Malmo. Top two positions in four groups are secured by: Austria Belgium Italy Greece Bulgaria England Croatia and Turkiye. In play-off matches will play: Wales Finland Netherlands and Lithuania
In Group 1 Austria secured the place in the Final Stage yesterday with two wins and today in the direct clash for the second position Belgium overcame Wales. In Group 2 Italy prevailed against Greece and Finland. Greece is second with one victory.
Croatia celebrated three victories at the home soil. They overcame Turkiye Lithuania and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Lithuania is third. In Group 3 Bulgaria beat the odds and concluded the group phase at the top position. Bulgaria overcame Netherlands England and Israel. England is second whilst Netherlands will play play-off.
