ECLW: Perfect start of reigning champion

Group A: Dr. CASL – SH-ITB Budaörsi 2i Sport Club 3:0. Group B: TTC Berlin Eastside – UCAM Cartagena 3:0

 

Reigning ECLW champion Dr. CASL made a perfect beginning of the 2018/19 season as they beat at home 2012/13 runner-up SH-ITB Budaörsi 2i Sport Club 3:0. Croatian champion lost just two sets presenting one newcomer table tennis legend NI Xia Lian.

 

FU Yu overcame Maria FAZEKAS in straight games of the opener continuing her top-class performances from last season (9-1 individual score). LI Jie lost first set but showed her strength in the next three against Szandra PERGEL. Third clash saw NI Xia Lian playing her very first ECLW match in Zagreb and her clear win against Mercedesz NAGYVARADI.

 

Four-time ECLW winner TTC Berlin Eastside made convincing start as well beating at home double ETTU Cup champion UCAM Cartagena 3:0. Berlin`s newcomers Mattilda EKHOLM (former player of Cartagena) and Nina MITTELHAM had a successful debut in winning their games against Victoria LEBEDEVA and Silvia ERDELYI DE SOUZA respectively. Third point for host side was secured by Georgina POTA who was extended to full distance by Maria XIAO.
