Sochi will host the inaugural European Under 21 Championships

ETTU is pleased to announce the 2017 European Championships U21 will be hosted by the Russia Table Tennis Federation (TTFR). The Championships will be held in the City of Sochi on the Black Sea.

 

The Olympic city has great organizing experience in various sports and they have been honored with the special task of hosting the first European Under 21 Championships.

 

“We choose Sochi to organize the inaugural European Championships for the players in U21 category knowing they are capable of fulfilling this task successfully. It is very important step for ETTU to offer the opportunity for talented young seniors to play for the titles at the major event and I am sure Sochi will be the right place for them to be next year ” stated ETTU President Ronald Kramer.

 

The Vice-president of the Russian Olympic Committee a Member of the ITTF President Advisory Council Chairman of Board of Trustees of the Table Tennis Federation of Russia Igor LEVITIN reminded that Sochi was the host of the XXII Winter Olympic Games in 2014.

 

“Sochi is a popular Soviet-era resort which today has changed and transformed drastically. Today Sochi is the city with the most modern sports facilities it can rightly be called the Olympic capital of Russia. And table tennis here is one of the leading places. I know that many people in Europe are waiting for the European championship among youth under 21 years. And doubly pleased that we were among the initiators of the occurrence of these events in the calendar of ETTU ” said LEVITIN.
