In Women’s Doubles Event with Marianella NICOLAOU she beat Natalia PANTELI / Eleftheria PANAGIOTOU 3-1.(-8 4 9 5). Vassilis VASSILIOU and Panagiotis NEOFYTOU won the title in Men’s Doubles Event. They overcame George GEROUDES/ Stefanos GREGORIOU 3-1.(9 -12 5 6) Third title Louiza KOUREA won in Mixed Doubles Event. Pera captured the 5th consecutive championship title after 16 wins. That is their 15th overall win in the history of the club. At the same time they equaled the record set in 1997-2001 when Pear also has been champion for five times in the row. Pera Athens emerged as champion with 12 victories in 12 games. It is their 3rd title after those won in 2004 and 2008. New champions are Christina FILI Angelina PAPADAKI Olga GEORGOPOULOU and coach is Costas IOANNIDIS. In the men’s ?1 Olympiakos contested in 2nd place for the 5th year in a row while the top four completed the AO Tatavla and OA Chania. The champion of A2 category AO Heraklion 2001 mooved forward in the first category while in the play off will play the 2nd AO Amfitheas and the 3rd AS The Gymnasium. In the women’s A1 Olympiakos the champion of the last year finished at 3rd position while P.K.D. Tavrou is ranked 2nd. The first four places completed D.A.O. Tavrou. In the A2 category demoted from the start of championship AO Pefkis which withdrew from the tournament. Champion in the A2 class became the AO Tatavla and returned directly to the A1. Under the theme “Join the table” the 2011 WTTC will be hosted from 8th till 15th May in the City of Sports Rotterdam. Ahoy will be the venue for the most important global table tennis event. The 2011 WTTC are organised by the Stichting Tafeltennis Evenementen (STN) on behalf of The Netherlands Table Tennis Association (NTTB) in association with Rotterdam Topsport. ITTF Executive Committee had a board meeting in Rotterdam and ITTF staff visited different hotels and the Ahoy venue. ITTF-president Adham SHARARA was welcomed together with NTTB-president Edgar VERKOOIJEN and 2011 WTTC ambassador Bettine VRIESEKOOP in the town hall of Rotterdam by mayor Ahmed ABOUTALEB. “The good cooperation with all parties involved and the enthusiasm of the ITTF concerning our preparations is very pleasant – says tournament director Ton VAN HAPPEN. – We are well on course and the contract signature underlines that.” NTTB-president Edgar VERKOOIJEN is also satisfied concerning cooperation so far. “We are happy with the way several matters are already tackled and concerning the role of the NTTB in this. Danish expert announced that he will take over new job in Spanish table tennis with great ambitions. Steen HANSEN was National Coach of Denmark from 1976 until 1984 Island from 1984 – 1989. That year he went back to Denmark as a Technical Director until 1997. From 1997 HANSEN accepted the proposal and worked as a national coach until 2001.
