Women are seeded no. two in the group B. Two years ago in China’s Guangzhou Germany suffered defeat in Men’s Teams Event in the round of 8. The team has been played without Timo BOLL and suffered defeat against Korea. This time as always German’s aspirations are high. “China is the hot favorite but we have a strong time too and like in Beijing we will resume the battle. I hope that I will be in top shape until Moscow. There are also many other strong teams on our way to the medal ” said Timo BOLL. Dimitrij OVTCHAROV still remembers the duel at the Olympic Games 2008: “Of course we want to win a medal. At least I do not yet have a medal from World Championships. Two years ago we have played the final of the Olympic Games. This year we want to reach the final too and be a threat to the Chinese there.” In Group stages Germany will face Japan Croatia Denmark Spain and Hungary. “We are in a very strong group but we have a good chance to proceed into the next round ” added Patrick BAUM. Coach Richard PRAUSE pointed at Germany Asian teams as top favorites for the medals: “China as the title holder and Olympic Champion is the top favourite. Next to them there will be a hot race for the medals by our team South Korea Japan Hong Kong Singapore and Chinese Taipei. Despite three continental titles in a row we must not forget our European opponents. We are in an equal group of strong teams. Especially the Japanese are verydangerous for us. We respect all opponents in this group. Therefore we will be very well prepared.” The German women’s team hopes that European Champion WU Jiaduo will get in shape right in time. She suffred from a broken rib and could not practice for a couple of days. Girls are in Group with Singapore Netherlands Spain Czech Republic and USA. Jorg BITZIGEIO: “All Asian adversaries in our group are very strong. Next to them we will face some of the strongest teams in Europe. It is a big challenge for us. Anyway our goal is to enter the quarter finals. All of us have to play very well throughout the whole tournament for that.” GERMAN TEAMMenTimo BOLL (Borussia D??ldorf) 29 Years old World ranking: 3Dimitrij OVTCHAROV (Royal Villette Charleroi/Belgium) 21 Years old World ranking: 15Christian SUSS (Borussia D??ldorf) 24 Years old World ranking: 24Bastian STEGER (TTC Frickenhausen) 29 Years old World ranking: 25Patrick BAUM (TTC Zugbr??
