GRAND-QUEVILLY ALCL won the match in Austria
In the Champions League Stage 2 in Group C the French team GRAND-QUEVILLY ALCL overcame LINZ AG Froschberg from Austria after more than 3 hours of play winning 3-2. Sofia POLCANOVA was back in action but she could only secure one point today. WU Jiaduo proved too strong for both Sofia and Suthasini SAWETTABUT. In both matches Suthasini was pushed to her limits but managed to come out on top. Anais SALPIN contributed a third point to the guests’ scoreline. In the next match LINZ AG Froschberg will face Etival ASRTT at home on November 5th. Borussia Düsseldorf kicked off the new CL season with the win
Seven-time Champions League Men winners Borussia Düsseldorf kicked off the new Champions League season with an away match against Sporting Clube de Portugal in Lisbon. They accomplished their mission successfully with straight match wins. “We had a good start and we are happy about that. We all know how tough it is at the beginning of the season. Our opponents were well-prepared and played very well so we had to stay alert to avoid any upsets ” said Dang QIU. Anton Källberg Dang QIU and Timo BOLL faced Diogo CARVALHO Diogo CHEN and Tiago ABIODUN. “We had a very promising start to the Champions League season. Everyone was focused and motivated. My match was a true clash of generations and was quite inspirational ” said 42-year-old Timo BOLL who defeated 15-year-old Tiago ABIODUN. The next match is scheduled for this Wednesday October 25. Borussia Düsseldorf will face the Austrian team SPG Felbermayr Wels at their home court the ARAG CenterCourt. The traditional Finlandia Open competition is taking place from November 30 to December 3 2023 at the Kisakallio Sports Institute in Lohja. MAYOROV and YONTER clinched titles in Blegny/Liège
Last weekend the STIGA Masters for the Under 11 category took place in Blegny/Liège. The winner in the Under 11 Boys’ category is Ladimir MAYOROV from Spain followed by Marin JEAN and Simon CLIN from France. In the three matches in the main draw MAYOROV did not drop a game. In the Under 11 Girls’ category Türkiye’s Ela Su YONTER clinched gold after beating her compatriot HUANG Cloe in the final. Ilona BUHAN from Ukraine finished third.
120 players coaches and officials gathered at Para training Camp and Coaches conference at Sport Scotland’s National Sport Centre
Table Tennis Scotland in partnership with British Para Table Tennis and assisted by the European Table Tennis Union (ETTU) National Association assistance programme and UK Sport International Relations funding hosted a Para training Camp and Coaches conference at Sport Scotland’s National Sport Centre Inverclyde Largs from Friday 13th – Sunday 15th October. This was designed as part of the Legacy Programme from European Para Championships 23 in Sheffield. Delegations from Scotland England Wales Ireland Italy Norway Belgium Greece and Hong Kong all working together. There was also a Scottish Pathway Squad training session taking place with over 30 youngsters taking part. A total of 120 players coaches and officials were involved over the weekend. Goradz VECKO Performance Director for British Para Table Tennis led the training camp assisted by National Coach Matt KENNY and National Pathway Coach Matjaz SERCER as well as Coaches from Norway Wales and Scotland with all players working hard and mixing well. Coach Education was a key part of the weekend and several workshops were held to develop the Scottish Coaches; while foreign coaches worked with GB coaches Richard YULE Chief Operating Officer for Table Tennis Scotland got things started with presentations on their new projects in terms of Social Table Tennis Table and looking showcasing their Pop up and Play programme. Karen TONGE OBE former Chair of British Para Table Tennis then delivered a workshop on the various rules for Para Table Tennis and this was very useful as many of the coaches shad not been involved with competitive Para players. She also covered integration of players within a club setting who may have a disability. Dr Kim DAYBELL who recently retired from the British Para World Class Performance Programme has qualified as a classifier and delivered a workshop explaining the various classifications and the challenges with reclassification. Sunday saw three more workshops for the Scottish Coaches in relation Scottish Disability Sport. Led by Club development and Performance pathways. These were also led By Richard YULE Chief Operating Officer for Table Tennis Scotland as well as Match play for the athletes and final feedback and words from Goradz

The list of the clubs that have advanced to Round Three of the Europe Cup Men is now complete. After dominant performances Polish clubs emerged successfully at the top of their respective Groups A and C. In Group A KS GLOBAL PHARMA ORLICZ 1924 SUCHEDNIÓW and Germany’s ASV Grünwettersbach secured their places in the next stage. Both clubs recorded two wins and one defeat. In Group C POLSKI CUKIER GWIAZDA overcame all three clubs with a 9-1 ratio. SF SKK EL NINO Praha from the Czech Republic is second with two wins. SolexConsult TTC Wiener Neustadt won the points in France
In their opening match in Group C of the Second Stage of the Champions League Men Austria’s SolexConsult TTC Wiener Neustadt overcame the winners of last year’s Europe Cup as well as the Europe Cup titleholders in 2019 the French team GV Hennebont TT after a long five-match battle. All three players from Austria’s club scored: Jin UEDA defeated Alexander GILLEN who also lost to Frane KOJIC. On the other side neither of those two players could stop Vladimir SIDORENAKO. Ivor BAN also secured a victory against Takumi MATSUSHITA. In the same group Polish Dartom Bogoria Grodzisk Mazowiecki defeated the Czech team HB Ostrov z.s. The next match is scheduled for October 27th where we will witness a rematch of last season’s Europe Cup final as Dartom Bogoria Grodzisk Mazowiecki faces GV Hennebont TT. In the Europe Cup Women Stage Two the hosts in Mirandela and Linares remained unbeaten and advanced to the Round Three. In Group A played in Mirandela Clube Ténis de Mesa de Mirandela defeated HB Ostrov z.s. and Austria’s LZ LINZ Froschberg. The Czech club concluded this stage in second place with one win. In Group B in their final match Real Club Tenis De Mesa Linares defeated KTTC AFP Antwerpen to secure the top spot in the standings. With one defeat Spanish MIRÓ Ganxets Reus is in second place while KTTC AFP Antwerpen is in third.
