In the third match of Group C in the Women’s Champions League, Italy’s ASD Quattro Mori, the 2023 Europe Cup champions, defeated French team Saint-Denis 93 TT in Italy 3-0. However, the match was far more intense than the final score suggests.
Elizabet ABRAAMIAN went the full distance in her match against Prithika PAVADE, ultimately clinching victory by a death point. Similarly, Tania PLAIAN was down 1-2 before making a comeback to defeat Barbora BALAZOVA in a decisive game, finishing 6-4.
Reflecting on the match, PLAIAN shared her excitement:
“I am just happy about this win. It was very important for us to win this match because we had lost the first one against Linz, but we didn’t have our Chinese player, HU Limei. We had very good team spirit and played very well—all of us, every point. We didn’t expect to win 3-0 because Saint-Denis has a very strong team. I am happy for my win against Barbora because she is a very strong player and just won the European title in doubles, but I am happier because of my team. We are looking forward to the next matches and hope to play at least as well as we did today.”
Both teams had suffered defeats against Austria’s Linz AG Froschberg in the previous two rounds, making this win significant for ASD Quattro Mori.
