Germany, the titleholders in Cadet Girls Team’s event will not play for the medal at the 56th European Youth Championships in Ostrava. Austrian girls prevailed in the Round of 16 . 

Karoline MISCHEK currently ranked at the position no. 10 at the European lists was the backbone of Austria’s success. In the opening match Karoline beat Lilli EISE in straight games. Julia KAIM helped her team to level with win over Ivana JAKIC , but once again Karoline, in doubles with Sandra FUCHS, leave no space for her adversary. She beat Julia KAIM in fourth match.  “I am so happy. We showed great team spirit. My teammates pushed me into victory and gave great support,” said MISCHEK.

Austria will play against Serbia in quarters. Sabina SURJAN and Izabela LUPULESKU overcame Croatia without any problems.

At the top of the draw, Romania looks untouchable. Adina DIACONU and Andreea CLAPA inflicted the pain into the hart of host nation supporters. Stanislava SLEZAKOVA, Katerina CECHOVA, Denisa PYSKATA and Veronika TUSLOVA were completely outplayed.

Portugal exceeded the expectations and reached quarters. Raquel ANDRADE and Marta SANTOS beat Sweden in four matches. Maria MALANINA and Valeria BAGAPOVA were in Russia’s team which beat Belgium today. They needed three matches to proceed, and that is the same score recorded in duels between Belarus and Bulgaria, Italy and Poland, France and Turkey.

Daria TRIGOLOS and Lizaveta TSIKHANAVA were the creators of Belarus success against Bulgaria.Veronica MOSCONI and Cristiana DUMITRACHE beat Poland and Marie MIGOT and Audrey ZARIF were the French winning team today.
