Orenburg Borussia and Saarbrucken secured their places in quarter-finals

TTCLM Round 4 concluded by five matches

Three more clubs secured their places in the 2016/17 Table Tennis Champions League Men quarter-finals: top seed and triple TTCLM champion FAKEL GAZPROM ORENBURG second seed and ten times TTCLM winner BORUSSIA DUSSELDORF and 1985/86 winner of Champions League FC SAARBRUCKEN TISCHTENNIS.

As in the opening round Roskilde and Ochsenhausen needed five matches to decide the winner and 2009 TTCLM runner-up again was winning side. Like in the first clash ZHAI Yuija took both points for Roskilde while German team showed team work as Yuto MURAMATSU Joao GERALDO and Hugo CALDERANO brought one point each.

Vaillante Sport Angers played without actual individual European champion Emmanuel LEBESSON while top seed Orenburg presented its best possible line-up Jun MIZUTANI Dimitrij OVTCHAROV Vladimir SAMSONOV. Hence the final score was obvious – three times 3:0 for Russian club.

After first four sets of clash between KS UNIA AZS AWFiS GDANSK and UMMC the same picture was seen like in their first match in Verkhnaya Pyshma: Polish team had 2:0 advantage Russian leveled on 2:2. But this time Gdansk side won 3:2 as WANG Yang beat Andrej GACINA in straight sets. The forth encounter was most exciting one when Kaii YOSHIDA extended Alexander SHIBAEV to full distance.

Saarbrucken wrote down its fourth consecutive victory in Group C. defeating G.V. Hennebont 3:1. French team had a big chance for 2:0 lead but Kalinikos KREANGA missed a match ball against Tiago APOLONIA. The entire clash was very intense with many upside downs on both sides and all four encounters were finished after full five games. APOLONIA managed to reverse the 0-2 score against PITCHFORD in the latest clash.

Ten times TTCLM champion Borussia Dusseldorf beat away SPG Walter Wels in a superb style. Kristian KARLSSON Timo BOLL and Stefan FEGERL were better than Mihai BOBOCICA WANG Jianjun and Zsolt PETO respectively.
