Titles for Tin-Tin HO and Tom JARVIS at the Mark Bates Ltd English Senior National Championships

Tin-Tin HO won her fifth national title and Tom JARVIS retained his title at the Mark Bates Ltd English Senior National Championships.

jarvis beat Sam Walker in the final the same result as last year with a score of 4-1 (12-10 11-8 4-11 11-6 11-8). In the semi-finals both players beat higher-ranked athletes – JARVIS defeated Paul DRINKHALL 4-0 (11-6 11-5 11-5 11-6) and WALKER beat Liam PITCHFORD 4-2 (6-11 12-10 11-9 6-11 11-9 13-11).

In the women’s singles Tin-Tin HO was the only athlete playing who had previously won the gold medal and she kept that statistic by beating Emily BOLTON 4-0 (11-8 11-3 11-9 12-10) in the final.

The bronze medallists were Mollie PATTERSON who was beaten 4-0 (11-4 12-10 11-3 11-8) by HO and Denise PAYET who lost 4-1 (11-5 7-11 11-7 11-8 11-6) to BOLTON.

PITCHFORD and DRINKHALL won the men’s doubles for the eighth time together beating JARVIS and David MCBEATH 3-2 (11-7 12-10 6-11 8-11 11-7) in the final. 

In the women’s doubles HO and BOLTON combined to take the gold with a 3-0 (11-1 11-5 11-8) victory over young sisters ERIN and Anna GREEN.

The mixed doubles was a shock result as PATTERSON and Ismaila AKINDIYA defeated HO and PITCHFORD 3-1 (11-8 11-6 7-11 14-12).

The Para 2-5 singles was a victory for Commonwealth Games champion Jack HUNTER-spivey who beat Simon Heaps 3-0 (11-5 11-9 12-10) and the Para 6-10 singles was won by Ashley FACEY who came from 2-0 down to beat Billy SHILTON 3-2 (9-11 8-11 11-7 11-7 11-7).

The under-21 champions were Jasmin WONG in the women’s competition and Connor GREEN in the men’s.
